35×45mm is not 2×2 inch — and not 3×4 cm either
These sizes look close but are not interchangeable. 35 × 45 mm has an aspect ratio of 0.778; the US square 2 × 2 inch photo is 1.0; the 3 × 4 cm size common across parts of Asia is 0.75. Cropping a 3 × 4 photo and submitting it for a Schengen application produces the wrong proportions and is a routine rejection. Pick the preset here rather than cropping by hand elsewhere.
Getting the head height right
This is where most home-made passport photos fail. Press “AI remove background” first — that gives the alignment step a clean silhouette to measure — then press “Auto-align face”. The tool locates the crown of the head and the width of the face, then sets zoom and position so the head occupies about 72% of the frame with roughly 9% headroom above it. That lands near 32 mm, inside both the ICAO band and the tighter UK range. If your form specifies something different, the zoom and shift sliders let you dial it in by hand.
