Frequently asked questions
Does changing speed also change the pitch?
No. The tool uses SoundTouch (a WSOLA algorithm) to change tempo independently of pitch — you can speed up or slow down a song while the vocals stay natural, with none of the "chipmunk" effect of plain fast-forward.
What is pitch shifting for?
It changes the key of a song without changing its speed — great for singers covering a song who need to lower or raise the key to fit their voice, or to make a karaoke track in a different key. Range is ±12 semitones (one octave).
Can I change speed and pitch at the same time?
Yes. Two independent sliders: you can slow to 0.8× and lower the key by -2 semitones in a single pass.
What is the speed range?
Tempo from 0.5× (half speed) to 2× (double speed). 1× is the original speed. Slowing down is great for language listening practice; speeding up makes a faster version.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser via the Web Audio API + SoundTouch.js + lamejs. Your files never leave your device, free and watermark-free.
What input and output formats are supported?
It accepts MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, and OGG, and exports MP3 at 96-320 kbps.
