Frequently asked questions
Does AI colorization change the content of my photo?
No. The AI only adds natural colors based on context — it does not change the composition, faces, or any objects in the photo, as enforced by the prompt sent with every request.
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
Yes — this is the ONLY AI tool in TaoClip's Image toolkit that needs to upload your photo to a server for processing via Google Vertex AI. It is deleted from the server immediately after the result is returned, never stored or used for anything else. You will be asked to confirm before it is sent.
Is AI colorization free?
Free for users, but there is a system-wide limit on AI requests per hour/day to prevent overload — if the limit is reached, try again in a few minutes.
What kind of photos work best?
Black-and-white photos, sepia-toned photos, or old faded color photos — family photos, historical documents, and old film scans all give good results.
