TaoClip Desktop is the Windows build of the taoclip.com toolkit. The important difference is where the work happens: trimming, merging, exporting and every AI model run on your own CPU and GPU, so there is no upload step, no server queue and no cap on how large your source files can be.
When the desktop build beats the web one
The web version is still the fastest route for a single quick job — trim one clip, shrink one video, convert one image. The desktop build exists for the heavier end of the work:

What TaoClip Desktop can do
Timeline editing
Drag videos and images onto the timeline, reorder them, split a clip at the playhead, set in and out points with I and O, and zoom with Ctrl + scroll wheel. Everything is undoable (Ctrl+Z), and the app keeps an autosaved session so an unexpected shutdown does not cost you the edit.
Photo + music slideshows
Import a batch of photos, add a music track, then switch on fit to music — the app divides the song length evenly across your slides and adds a gentle Ken Burns zoom so the frame never sits still.
Automatic subtitles, generated offline
One click transcribes the speech in your clip into Vietnamese or English subtitles. Recognition happens on your machine; the model downloads once (around 80MB) and works without a connection afterwards. Lines are editable, and you can burn them permanently into the video on export.
Voice-over and re-dubbing
Type a script and let the AI read it aloud — either the free local voice that runs offline, or Google Cloud TTS if you bring your own API key. The re-dub feature goes further: it listens to the speech already in the clip, splits it sentence by sentence and reads it back in the AI voice you picked, aligned to the original timings. Background music ducks automatically whenever someone is speaking.
AI background and face replacement
Separate the subject from the background and swap in a blur, a solid colour or any image — handy for footage shot at home against a cluttered wall. There is also a face-swap tool; it requires you to confirm you have the right to use that face, and exported videos are flagged as AI-modified content.
Text, stickers, transitions and filters
Add titles and captions with custom size, colour and on-screen timing; drop in stickers; apply fade or dissolve transitions between clips; and pick a colour look from the built-in filters (Bright, Warm, Cool, Vivid, Black & white, Vintage).
Automatic silence removal
For talking-head footage, the app analyses the waveform and proposes cutting the silent gaps — a noticeably tighter clip without scrubbing through it yourself.
Download a video from a link
Paste a YouTube or TikTok URL to pull the clip down and drop it straight onto the timeline. The downloader component is fetched on first use (~18MB). Only download content you have the right to use.
Export every aspect ratio at once
Pick a main ratio and tick the extras — the app renders 9:16 for TikTok/Reels/Shorts, 1:1 for Facebook/Instagram and 16:9 for YouTube from the same project. Safe-zone guides sit on the preview so your text never lands under the TikTok interface. Three export modes — Fastest, Smart and Accurate — let you trade speed against precision, and hardware encoding kicks in automatically when a supported GPU is present.
System requirements
- OS: Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit.
- RAM: 4GB minimum; 8GB or more for long Full HD projects and AI features.
- Disk: about 1.5GB for the installation, plus space for whichever AI models you actually use.
- GPU: optional. NVIDIA, Intel Quick Sync or AMD hardware makes exporting substantially faster.
- Network: only needed for the first download of an AI model and for pulling videos from a link.
Installing in four steps
- Click Download TaoClip.exe at the top of this page and wait for the file.
- Open it. If Windows shows the blue "Windows protected your PC" screen, click More info then Run anyway — the installer is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen flags it like any new publisher.
- Choose an install folder (or keep the default) and confirm. The installer creates a desktop shortcut for you.
- Launch TaoClip, drop in your first video or photos, and start editing. Press ? for the full keyboard shortcut list.
The interface ships in English and Vietnamese, switchable from inside the app.
Where your data lives
On the desktop build the answer is simple: on your own computer. Videos, photos, music and project files are never sent anywhere, and the AI models run locally once downloaded. Only two outbound connections exist, and you trigger both: fetching an AI model the first time, and downloading a video from a link you paste. If you enable Google Cloud TTS, the only thing leaving your machine is the text to be spoken — the API key itself is stored encrypted locally. Full details are in our privacy policy.
Still being built
TaoClip Desktop ships in incremental releases. On the roadmap: parallel multi-track timeline, a library of ready-made templates, project sync between the app and taoclip.com, and a macOS build.
